Technical shutdown 2024

Our Nesle plant operates 3x8 all year round. We temporarily shut down certain areas for short periods (8 to 10 hours) to carry out checks or maintenance works. However, every year, a complete and longer shutdown is scheduled in order to carry out more extensive work (high-pressure cleaning, preventive work on the electrical distribution system, replacement of collectors, various developments, heavy maintenance operations, detailed inspections, etc.). This is known as a ‘technical shutdown’.

A great performance!

This is a major event for the site. More than 150 people from external companies are present. The number of people on site doubles during this period!

This shutdown is the result of 6 months of meticulous preparation, with scoping meetings, a detailed action plan, and the planning and anticipation of work sites. All our teams are mobilised to work together on this meticulous organisation. And this is to ensure that everyone can work with peace of mind! This technical shutdown is carried out in conjunction with the external contractors working on site during this period.

Obviously, this co-activity requires a high level of coordination and vigilance to avoid any incidents or accidents.

A preliminary meeting is organised with the external companies. They are reminded of procedures and given the necessary training for entering and working on site. Two ‘safety quarter-hour’ meetings are scheduled each week: these bring together all on-site staff to review the progress of the shutdown and to remind them of instructions and best practice. After each shutdown, a detailed review is carried out, taking into account feedback from all stakeholders in order to define improvement actions for the next shutdown.

With 0 accident, it’s a perfect record this year! Congratulations to our teams and all the external contributors for the work done before, during and at the restart of this technical shutdown!
