Safety Days 2026: raising awareness, preventing risks and taking action against chemical hazards
At Ajinomoto Foods Europe – Solutions & Ingredients Division, safety is a daily priority. To strengthen the safety culture among all our employees and partners, we are organising several Safety Days in June, dedicated to raising awareness of chemical risks.
Events
Understanding risks to better manage them
Our business involves handling raw materials and products that require constant vigilance. Through these days, we have two objectives:
To raise awareness of the chemical risks present in our working environment,
To remind staff of the systems, procedures and equipment that enable these risks to be managed effectively.
To make this awareness-raising practical and engaging, we have designed an interactive programme comprising several workshops.
An immersive programme for our employees
Taking place on 9, 16, 19 and 24 June, these four days allow employees, grouped into teams of three to five people, to take part in three complementary workshops.
Workshop 1: Storage of liquid raw materials and protective equipment
Participants will be shown images of the liquid raw materials storage area, best practices and risk management measures.
An observation exercise will also help identify good and bad practices regarding the wearing of personal protective equipment (PPE).
Particular attention will be paid to the use of Diphotérine® in the event of an incident, with a presentation of the various containers and how to use them.
Workshop 2: The laboratory at the heart of prevention
Using everyday products, participants will have to match the correct hazard pictograms to the various bottles provided. They will be able to refer to the Safety Data Sheets (SDS) to resolve the different scenarios.
This workshop will also serve as a reminder of the importance of pH measurement and the appropriate actions to take in the event of an accidental spill.
Workshop 3: A safety escape game
To round off the programme, teams will need to solve four puzzles based on a high-risk scenario in order to complete their mission within a time limit.
This immersive activity aims to reinforce safety reflexes whilst promoting cooperation and learning through play.
A day dedicated to external contractors
As external contractors play a key role in our operations, a special day has been set aside for them on 17 June.
Divided into groups of no more than 10 people, participants will take part in a 45-minute workshop based on a real-life scenario involving chemical risks.
Through five stages, they will be made aware of:
the evolutions of our procedure for risk analysis and work authorisation;
the good ways to use and fill in the corresponding record sheet;
the selection and wearing of appropriate PPE;
dressing and undressing procedures;
first aid procedures and the emergency resources available on site.
A reward in line with our commitments
Upon completion of the session, each participant will receive a reusable Ajinomoto water bottle.
This gift is part of our approach to reducing plastic waste, whilst highlighting the importance of hydration for health and well-being at work.
Finally, a satisfaction survey will be used to gather feedback from participants in order to continuously improve our awareness-raising initiatives.
Because when it comes to safety, everyone has a role to play, these days provide an opportunity to work together to strengthen our knowledge, our reflexes and our culture of prevention.
