Working for health, wellbeing and solidarity

Improving health and wellbeing through food lies at the heart of the Ajinomoto Group’s mission and that of division

On our site, this commitment is reflected in particular through our participation in awareness-raising initiatives such as Nutrition & Taste Day prevention campaigns, Pink October and Movember, for example. We also support local charitable initiatives through fundraising campaigns for Restos du Cœur.

These initiatives contribute to SDG 2 – Zero Hunger and SDG 3 – Good Health and Well-being.

Supporting the talent of tomorrow

The transfer of knowledge and the development of skills are key drivers for building a sustainable future.

Over the past two years, our Nesle plant has welcomed 54 interns and 10 work-study students from vocational, technical and higher education programmes. Spread across various departments such as Production, IT, HSE, Quality and Communications, they have the opportunity to discover careers in industry, develop their skills and gain enriching professional experience.

This initiative contributes to SDG 4 – Quality Education.

Promoting inclusion and equal opportunities

We are committed to fostering an inclusive working environment where everyone can thrive.

Through initiatives and training programmes dedicated to Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI), Ajinomoto Foods Europe is continuing its efforts to encourage equal opportunities and value diversity within its teams.

These initiatives contribute to SDG 5 – Gender Equality and SDG 10 – Reduced Inequalities.

Conserving natural resources

Water conservation and reducing our environmental impact are an integral part of our continuous improvement approach.

Among the measures put in place, the site ensures that its water consumption is reduced year on year through improved efficiency and the implementation of technical upgrades. Rigorous monitoring of the quality of discharged water is also carried out to protect the natural environment. In addition, Ajinomoto Foods Europe is encouraging the reduction of single-use plastics at its Nesle site, in particular by discontinuing the distribution of plastic water bottles and providing reusable water bottles for staff.

These initiatives contribute to SDG 6 – Clean Water and Sanitation and SDG 14 – Life Below Water.

Supporting the energy transition

Ajinomoto Foods Europe is committed to promoting more sustainable energy solutions.

Our site is powered by energy generated by the nearby biomass cogeneration plant, thereby contributing to the development of a more responsible energy mix.

This initiative contributes to SDG 7 – Affordable and clean energy.

Balancing innovation and well-being at work

Innovation and people are two essential pillars of our development.

Thanks to its expertise in fermentation and its activities as a CDMO (Contract Development and Manufacturing Organisation), Ajinomoto Foods Europe supports its partners in developing innovative solutions that contribute to a more sustainable future. At the same time, we are continuing our efforts to improve working conditions for our staff, in particular by refurbishing break and workspaces.

These initiatives contribute to SDG 8 – Decent Work and Economic Growth and SDG 9 – Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure.

Building a more sustainable future together

At Ajinomoto Foods Europe, sustainability is reflected in a wide range of practical initiatives carried out every day by its teams.

From solidarity to innovation, and from conserving resources to developing skills, we continue to take action to make a positive contribution to society and build a more sustainable future.
